This year’s Brown Cup Competition will be held once again at the Royal New Zealand Police College, Papakowhai, Porirua on Saturday June 17th 2017.
The Judging panel for both events will be senior club members; Mr Alistair Hanning and Mr John Hanning of Wellington. If entries warrant, two boards will operate and an additional panel advised.
The Prize money for each event is 1st $200 2nd $125 3rd $75 4th $50
The Everest Memorial and Brown Cup competition has an entry fee of $8 for each event and is open to all financial club members. Anyone interested in competing who is not already a financial member of the Club can join the club for $20.
The Everest Memorial Piobaireachd competition commemorates Past President Bob Everest. Competitors will be required to submit three tunes of their own choice one of which will be selected by the judges to play. This competition will commence at 9.30am. (Times may change depending on entries)
The Brown Cup competition- The Brown Cup was donated by former club Patron W.G. Brown and requires competitors to play a march, strathspey and reel, jig and hornpipe and a slow air in an order of their own choice with a maximum of two tuning breaks. A March, Strathspey and Reel will be judged as a separate event within the Brown Cup and the winner will receive the Neil and Alan McPhee Memorial Tray. This competition will commence at 1.30pm.
